Describing Fruitvale, one might say a farming community with a mix of commuters. A rooted rural community with small town simplicity. Residents enjoy the quietness of rural living. Away from the city, a get-away from traffic, and one enjoys the stars, and a lower cost of living. We are about an hour from two major cities, Dallas to the west or Tyler, east.
The city has a community center with music weekly on Monday nights. Much activity surrounds our local school district. We are proud of our school, FISD, and the impact our teachers have in our community.
Although we are a small population, we have several churches which are active in the community and bridge connections among the residents. A benefit of small town is neighborly friendliness and ability to connect with others in the community.
Our local government includes of a city council. Our community is served by a volunteer fire department.
